@The Fall Guy.
A videoed speaker? Whatever happened to audience contact? (as taught in the TM school in the past). How on earth can a videoed speaker interact with the people who are listening.... Don't they trust local elders to give these talks anymore?

Lost in the fog
I still struggle with the fact that the universe has no end to it.
In other words there's a lot of things that blow my mind and I can't explain.
Since disavowing the JWs version of events I have put God into the same box, full of quandaries and perplexities that I find difficult to comprehend.
To each his own, if you believe I am OK with that, if you don't believe I am OK with that also.

Brain Teaser
by BourneIdentity ini’ve always wondered about this one.
if the bible says there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous, does that mean all mankind that have died will come back to life?
if so, what’s the incentive for jws to have an urgency to preach and save people?

Lost in the fog
I can remember a Zone Overseer's talk where he said that natural disasters like the floods in Pakistan and India where many people lost their lives was probably Jehovah’s way of ensuring that people who would never get the chance of a witness now would have the opportunity to hear the truth after their resurrection in the New World. (Thunderous applause from the audience).
A scary thought if you ask me....

Holy Spirit - Present or Gone in the Congregations?
by BourneIdentity ini was doing some reminiscing and remember the days back in the late 80s and early 90s where i truly could say the meetings were so encouraging and that i felt the holy spirit present and operating on all of us.
today when i attend, there is nothing of the sort.
is it because jehovah has withheld it?

Lost in the fog
A friend of ours in Australia has stopped going to the meetings because of seeing the problems in the congregation there. They were bold (or crazy) enough to announce the fact on their Facebook page. Immediately the posts started rolling in either urging them to go back, to seek out the elders, or criticizing them for not opposing the Devil.
The post that really made me laugh was the one which said, "Oh you have to return to the congregation's Kingdom Hall because it's the only place in the world where Jehovah is with his Holy Spirit."
And I thought how ignorant of Bible knowledge the writer must be for Christ said that God does not dwell in handmade temples. And besides if you believe in God as the Almighty One then HE is God over every creation, not inside one tiny building and His holy spirit is working across the globe. It's laughable that anyone can think God is somehow anchored above each Kingdom Hall and nowhere else.

LAPSED JEHOVAH'S WITNESS.
by Lost in the fog inso this former athlete is taking part in a new television programme.
it caught my attention that he called himself a lapsed jehovah's witness.
it obviously didn't bother him to stand up for the national anthem when he won a gold medal in the london olympics, so i guess he's pretty well lapsed.. https://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/our-region/milton-keynes/milton-keynes-star-greg-rutherford-to-appear-in-new-bbc-tv-show-starting-friday-1-8875479 .

I dont understand why KH's are less attractive than churches
by nowawake14 ini mean, come on.
if they call themselves the "true", then why are most kingdom halls not as attractive as churches and dont do any better?.

Lost in the fog
Because they are so plain a jw who finally makes it inside a cathedral is blown away by the art, sculpture, etc. It has been the beginning of their journey out in some instances I am aware of, especially when they see the people attending have a strong connection to their community and also love one another.

Fear Of Demons:
by Englishman inthere was a time when jw's wouldn't buy anything that wasn't brand spanking new.
it might be a way for the demons to enter your home!.
this is from the wt, dec 15, 1966:.

Lost in the fog
We know several publishers who won't buy anything from a charity or goodwill store for that very reason. Whereas we have furnished most of our house with 2nd hand items because they are less expensive and never lost any sleep over it.
This is probably another excuse for the elders to poke through the homes of the congregation on the pretext of helping exorcise the demonic influences while looking for anything that will let them haul the person in front of a committee.
If anything is demonic, I think we all know what it is in relation to the Watchtower Society and its minions.
